Aussie Guardian Home Program

To ensure all of our dogs live a pampered life with their very own forever family, we have implemented our Guardian Home Program! This allows for you to have a “pick of the litter puppy” or adolescent/adult breeding dog for a small deposit. It allows us provide individual attention to each of our dogs. This puppy or dog will be part of your family forever, while the breeding rights are retained by Tried and True Aussies for a prescribed amount of time. Once this dog has completed his/her breeding career, he/she will need to be spayed or neutered and will always remain a forever member of your family. At the end of our short term contract he/she will become your full property.

By joining our Program, you desire to and will act as a guardian for a dog that is either a potential breeder (raising from puppy or young dog) or a proven breeder (an adult dog).

What are the requirements to become a part of our Guardian Home Program?
Ownership of your house is preferred, but if you rent, we would need written confirmation from your landlord approving a dog in the house. We require that you live within 1 hour of our home in Cotati, California. It is necessary that you have physical fencing to provide a safe and secure environment for your dog/puppy, and have a schedule that will allow for your dog to not be left alone for extended periods of time. All dogs and pups placed in this program must be at least partially indoor dogs, and not be left outside unattended for long periods. You must have reliable transportation, and a willingness to bring your dog/pup to us when needed for breeding purposes.

We require that you keep them on the food that we are feeding and use the supplements that we use. We believe this is the best nutrition they can get and require they remain on the same routine.

If starting with a puppy, we require that you join Baxter and Bella to train your puppy in the comfort of your own home. This training will give you all the positive reinforcement training that you need to get a well mannered puppy to adulthood. We will give you a coupon code to save for a lifetime membership, which is extremely affordable.

Any “breeding related” medical costs are the sole expense and responsibility of Tried and True Aussies while your dog is in our breeding program. You are responsible for daily care and expenses for your dog (food, flea medication, treats, etc.) and only for routine medical care just as would be expected of any other responsible pet parent!

Is there a cost involved?

Yes, We do not give these dogs or pups away. The cost of an Aussie Guardian dog/puppy is $500.
Your Pick of the Litter Female will have no more than five (5) litters of  puppies. If after health testing we decide not to breed your puppy, you will have first chance of purchase of the puppy for an additional $600 or you can return the puppy to Tried and True Aussies. If we move out of the area before breeding the dog, we will work with you to decide if we will take the dogs with us and return your deposit or if you will buy the dog at full price.

If we put a male in a guardian home, we will decide price at the time of placement.

Why is there a cost involved?

We have found that having a small fee for these puppies and dogs is essential for finding the absolutely BEST homes for them.

By doing this, we eliminate those folks who may be doing the program for the wrong reasons! Again, we have done this as part of ensuring the health and benefit of every wonderful member of our Tried and True family!

What happens when the dog is retired from breeding?
The title of the dog gets transferred to you once proof of spay or neuter are confirmed. Spay or neuter are paid for by the Guardian.

What are the benefits of being part of our Guardian Home Program?

First of all, you will get one of our pick of the litter Aussies or an adult that we think would be a good family companion.

Another benefit to you is that this dog or puppy will be health tested by 12 months of age (or as soon as we have the dog if purchased as an adult) at the expense of Tried and True Aussies prior to entering our breeding program at no cost to you!

Also, you get to enjoy the excitement of being a part of our breeding program, and will see the offspring of your very own dog placed with families across the country ~ bringing others the same joy and happiness that you have experienced with your Pick of the Litter Dog!

We board your guardian dog at no charge when they are here for breeding and whelping purposes. We will also board your dog for your needs at a 50% discount of our normal cost while they are in our breeding program and if we have space during your desired dates. After the dog is retired from our breeding program we will board them at a 9% discount if we have space for your desired dates.

We are looking for a guardian home for our 2 year old red merle girl, Journey. She is great with other dogs and people. She is a bit of an escape artist, but pretty good indoors. She walks well on a leash and listens fairly well. She will need some continued training, but we would be happy to continue working with her guardian family on that. We will need a local family who is looking an indoor dog that will not be left at home alone for long hours of the day. Let me know if you think that you may be a good fit for Journey.
